2025 Artists Call

Theme: To See Clearly

Artists for 2025 will be responding to theme: To See Clearly—Through the lens: What does it mean to see clearly?

Highlighted in the Devotional Classics is a chapter on Annie Dillard titled, To see clearly. Annie says there are two kinds of seeing and we'll be referencing the devotional to advise the development of pieces for this year along with the following reflective questions.

There are so many ‘seeing’ without seeing these days and it is from this position we'll explore the theme from different perspectives informed by the following reflective questions.

Reflective Questions:

  • What have you encountered on the way that you didn't expect but was meaningful? Perhaps it occurred as immediately meaningful or something that was processed later.
  • What does it mean to see clearly?
  • What did you or are you seeing on the way somewhere?
  • What other facets of seeing on the way, can be considered?
  • In what ways has art changed how you see?
  • What common threads do you notice in the development of your work?

For the group art show, each participant will develop a unique concept working both individually and in community.

Art Show Date — October 3, 6-8pm
